KANDY Outdoor Flooring Welcomes Jason Blue as Franchise Partner!

Jason Blue’s journey to KANDY Outdoor Flooring as a new franchise partner is very similar to route taken by co-founders Kelly and Doug Niessen.

“I’ve got a condo in downtown Vancouver,” Jason explains. “I look out at Stanley Park from my living room, and I have to stare at a concrete slab before I see the beautiful view.”

Jason’s search for an outdoor flooring solution for his own balcony led him to the KANDY website, where he liked what he saw. KANDY Outdoor Flooring expands home experiences with new outdoor flooring for condo balconies, ground level patios and rooftops.

“I was impressed with the solution, the presentation, and I realized KANDY had hit a market niche. I was so interested that I started thinking about the franchise. I called Kelly, met with her and Doug, and fairly quickly was convinced this was the perfect opportunity for me.”

Of course Jason came across the CBC Dragons’ Den pitch, where co-founders Kelly & Doug secured investment offers from all 5 Dragons. But that wasn’t what clinched it for him.

“It was the leadership,” says Jason. “The integrity of Kelly and Doug. They’ve built values right into the company that really align with my own. These are absolutely the kinds of people I want to align myself with.”

“I get a feel for people pretty quickly,” explains Kelly Niessen, KANDY Outdoor Flooring co-founder. “We only invite people to join our franchise partner team if there’s a good fit with our core values. Jason has that in spades, along with a great background in film and finance that will serve him well.”

He’s been working in Vancouver’s film industry for the last few years. With a Bachelor of Commerce from Montreal’s Concordia University, the Canadian Securities Course and a Quebec real estate license under his belt, and work experience that includes hedge fund analyst in the British Virgin Islands and senior fund accountant in Bermuda, Jason brings a diverse skillset to his own KANDY franchise business.

When Jason isn’t serving fantastic KANDY customers in his North Van, West Van, Squamish, Whistler, Burnaby and Port Moody franchise territory, you can find him running the seawall, taking a yoga class, or hiking.
